That is what turns a paid hour from a gamble into a conversation.
How much should a reading cost?
The spread across this industry runs from the price of a coffee to the price of a month of rent, and the number correlates with marketing budget far more than with skill. Judge the person instead: how they answer your questions before payment, whether they promise outcomes, and whether they can say the words I do not know. A cheap thoughtful hour beats an expensive theatrical one.
Is an online reading worse than meeting in person?
For anything interpretive it makes little difference, because the work is conversation and the chart or the cards look the same on a screen. In person matters for body practices like reiki, where touch and shared quiet are the method. Online has one honest advantage: it is easier to end a call than to walk out of a room when someone starts selling you a cleansing.
What red flags work for every format?
Anyone who finds a curse, a family karmic debt or dark energy on you and then sells the removal is running a script, not a practice. So is urgency, escalating top-up payments, asking you to keep the sessions secret from your family, discouraging a second opinion, and any suggestion to stop or delay medical treatment. One of those is enough to leave, and you owe no explanation on the way out.
