The two schools
The same arithmetic, two house rules.
A date that never lands on 11, 22 or 33 gets the same answer from both schools. A date that does gets two, and the difference is the house rule, not an error.

11The reduction stops at 11, 22 and 33. Twelve life paths exist, and the three master ones are read as higher pressure versions of 2, 4 and 6.
Classic reduction
2Every total is reduced to a single digit. Nine life paths exist, the readings are steadier, and no number carries a special burden.
A date most calculators answer with a flat 2, and a date one school answers with 11. Both are defensible. Usually only one of them is shown.

Which numbers does it calculate?
Life path, birthday, expression, soul urge and personality, plus your personal year, personal month and personal day. The three name numbers appear once you type a name, and the five date numbers work without one.
Which reduction school should I choose?
If you are following a modern Western book or chart, keep the master numbers. If you want the older single digit reading, choose classic reduction. The calculator marks every number where the two disagree, so you can see exactly what the choice costs you.
