How gate 57 shows up in a life

You pick up on the shift in someone's voice before they have finished the sentence, and you are almost always right. The signal is quiet and it does not repeat, so second-guessing loses it entirely. Notice how much of your fear is future-shaped and how little of it belongs to today. This ear also needs silence to stay accurate.
