What does an aura reader actually do?
A reader looks at you, or at your photograph, and reports colours with positions and qualities. Gold close to the head, a muddied patch at the left shoulder, red pulled in tight around the chest. Then comes interpretation, because the whole practice runs on a shared colour vocabulary in which every shade carries a temperament and a state. The idea is not ancient. It arrived through Theosophy at the end of the nineteenth century, when writers merged the halo of religious painting with the language of the new physics, and it hardened into its present form in twentieth century American spiritual writing. What the reader does in the room is a genuine skill of a kind: attending closely to your posture, your face, your voice and your breathing, then speaking all of it back in the colour language.
