What does a numerologist actually calculate?

Four numbers carry most of a reading. The life path comes from your birth date, reduced digit by digit until a single figure remains, with eleven, twenty two and thirty three held back as master numbers. The expression number comes from every letter of your full name as it was written at birth, each letter assigned a value from one to nine. The soul urge uses only the vowels of that name, the personality number only the consonants. Some readers add the birthday number and a few cycle numbers tied to your current year. None of these rules are secret, none of them differ between schools in any serious way, and a machine applies them faster and more accurately than a person with a notepad. Anyone selling the calculation itself as a secret is selling you arithmetic.

What does a live numerologist add to a free calculation?

Three things, and it is worth naming them plainly so you can tell whether you got them.
