What is Shungite known for?
Shungite is a carbon rich rock from Karelia in northwest Russia, and the deposit at Zazhoginskoye is the only commercial source. Peter the Great sent soldiers to the local springs in the eighteenth century, which is the historical root of its reputation. Chemists confirmed natural fullerenes in some shungite in the 1990s, and that single genuine finding has since been stretched to cover claims it never supported. Crystal writers place it with grounding.

Most people keep a polished piece on a desk or carry a small tumbled stone, exactly as they would with any grounding stone.
Elite shungite, the shiny silver kind, is the same rock with higher carbon and is used the same way.

Does shungite protect against 5G or wifi?
No. There is no evidence that a piece of rock attenuates radio frequency signals in any meaningful way, and the sellers making that claim do not provide any. The health scare it feeds on is itself not supported by the research. Keep the stone if you like it, drop the claim.
Can I make shungite water?
People do, and it is a long standing folk practice in Karelia, but it is not filtration and should not replace one. Untreated water stays unsafe with a stone in it. If you want clean water, buy a filter.
