Crystals for Focus
Fluorite, dumortierite and hematite are the three focus stones, with smoky quartz, pietersite and apatite alongside. Fluorite is the famous one and its nickname is the genius stone, which the tradition itself treats with a smile. The honest description across sources is narrower. These are desk stones, kept in one spot, used to mark the boundary between a working hour and an hour of drifting through tabs.
The six
Which six stones does tradition name for this?
Six, not sixty. Each one carries a different reason, so you can pick the reason that sounds like your week rather than buying the whole row.
Fluorite
Banded purple and green, soft enough to scratch with a knife. Lore calls it the study stone and gives it to sorting a messy head into an order you can work in.
Dumortierite
Deep blue and little known outside crystal circles. It is associated with patience for detail, the tolerance for a task that is dull but has to be exact.
Hematite
The anchor. Tradition puts it in the non writing hand during reading, and the cool weight gives restless fingers something to do that is not a phone.
Smoky Quartz
Included for the focus problem that is actually background worry. It is described as turning the volume down on everything that is not in front of you.
Pietersite
Blue and gold in motion. Lore gives it to working through interruption, which is the realistic version of focus for anyone sharing a room or a household.
Apatite
Bright blue green, tied to clarity about what the task even is. Half of lost focus is not knowing which of five things you are supposed to be doing.
The practice
How do you work with the set?
Keep one stone on the desk as a switch.
Turn it face up when you start a block of work and face down when you stop, and no phone while it is face up.
Forty five minutes is the block most people hold.
The stone does not create attention, it makes the boundary physical and hard to fake.

Questions
What else do people ask about this?
Is fluorite safe to handle every day?
Handling is fine. Just keep it out of water and away from knocks, because it is soft and cleaves easily, and do not leave it in the sun since strong light fades the purple.
One stone or several on the desk?
One. A row of crystals becomes scenery within days and stops signalling anything. The whole mechanism depends on the object being unusual enough to notice.

The needs that sit next to this one.
Two ways on
A need is one door in, a stone is another.
Six names, and behind each one the tradition that gave it the job and the plain limit of what it cannot do. The body reads the same set differently, and the seven centres are that reading.
- 104
- stones, each with what tradition says
- 64
- everyday uses, six stones under each
- 7
- centres, the same set read through the body
