Fluorite: Meaning, Properties and How to Use It
Fluorite is the study stone. Tradition credits it with sorting a cluttered mind, holding concentration through long tasks and cutting the mental noise that turns into anxiety. Purple is given to intuition, green to a fresh start and rainbow banded pieces to organising whatever is in a mess.
What tradition says
What is Fluorite known for?
Fluorite grows in cubes and octahedra and glows under ultraviolet light so characteristically that the whole phenomenon of fluorescence is named after it. Blue John from Derbyshire was carved into vases the Romans prized. The lore is modern and practical, aimed squarely at students, writers and anyone facing a long piece of work. Practitioners describe its effect as tidying rather than energising, which is why it sits on desks rather than on bodies.
The practice
How do you use Fluorite?
Put an octahedron on the desk within sight and pick it up at the start of each work block, not during one.
Keep a purple piece beside the books you are studying from.
For a cluttered evening, hold it and write down every open loop on a single page, then stop.

Two more
What does Fluorite pair with?
Stones are kept in small sets rather than alone, and these two are the usual company for this one.
What it is kept for
What do people reach for Fluorite for?
The same stone, read through the thing you came here with.
Questions
What else do people ask about Fluorite?
Can fluorite go in water?
A quick rinse in cool water is tolerated, nothing more. It is soft and cleaved, so water works into the planes and a piece that has soaked will eventually flake along them. Hot water cracks it outright. Cleanse it with sound or a night on selenite instead.
Which colour of fluorite should I choose?
Purple for study and for quieting the head before sleep, green for starting something over, yellow for group work and rainbow for general untangling. The colour split is a modern convention rather than an old tradition, so if only one piece speaks to you, that is a fine enough reason.
