Crystals for Pregnancy
Moonstone, rose quartz and unakite are the three stones most often given during pregnancy. The honest frame first: stones do not affect a pregnancy, a birth or a baby, in either direction. They are keepsakes and markers of a long strange season. Every medical question, from a worry at two in the morning to a plan for the birth, belongs with your midwife or doctor.
The six
Which six stones does tradition name for this?
Six, not sixty. Each one carries a different reason, so you can pick the reason that sounds like your week rather than buying the whole row.
Moonstone
The traditional gift for this season, tied to cycles and to travel. It is often given at the start and kept afterwards as the object that marks the whole period.
Rose Quartz
Kept for the ordinary tenderness of it, and for the days when your body feels like public property and everyone has an opinion about how you should be carrying it.
Unakite
Frequently given in this context for its pairing of green and warm pink. Its meaning here is patience with a process that has its own schedule and ignores yours.
Amethyst
Kept on the nightstand through the months when sleep is broken anyway. It does nothing to the sleep. It marks the room as somewhere you are allowed to stop.
Moss Agate
Growth at its own pace, visible inside the stone. Some people keep it specifically for the third trimester, when waiting becomes the entire content of a week.
Jade
Given as an heirloom more than as a practice. In several traditions it is the stone passed to a child later, which makes it a good object to buy once and keep.
The practice
How do you work with the set?
Treat these as keepsakes, not as tools.
Keep one in the hospital bag because a familiar object helps in an unfamiliar room, and one at home for the long evenings.
Do not make elixirs and do not drink stone water, selenite and malachite above all.
Nothing here substitutes for antenatal care or for calling your midwife.
Read here as a language of symbols. Medical, legal and financial questions belong with a professional.
Questions
What else do people ask about this?
Are any crystals unsafe in pregnancy?
No stone sitting on a shelf harms a pregnancy. The real risks are elixirs, powdered minerals and anything swallowed, plus lists online that tell pregnant women to avoid certain stones and then sell the safe ones. Keep them dry, external and decorative.
Can I take a crystal into the birth room?
Usually yes, and many people do. Check with the hospital first, keep it small and tumbled so nothing can chip, and understand what it is: a familiar object to hold. It is not pain relief and it is not a plan. Your midwife handles both of those.

Two ways on
A need is one door in, a stone is another.
Six names, and behind each one the tradition that gave it the job and the plain limit of what it cannot do. The body reads the same set differently, and the seven centres are that reading.
- 104
- stones, each with what tradition says
- 64
- everyday uses, six stones under each
- 7
- centres, the same set read through the body
