Is malachite safe to wear?
A sealed, polished stone in a setting sits safely against skin, and people have worn it as jewellery for millennia. The risk is dust and moisture, so take rings off before washing up, do not wear it in the shower, and watch for chalky patches, which mean the piece is breaking down.
Can malachite go in water?
No. Copper leaches out, the surface pits and the water becomes something you should neither drink nor bathe in. It also dissolves slowly in anything acidic. Cleanse it dry with sound, smoke or a night on a selenite plate, and dust it with a soft brush.
