Are pink and yellow sapphires real sapphires?
Yes. Sapphire is corundum in every colour except red, and red corundum is simply called ruby. Tradition assigns the blue stone the judgement and vow reputation. The coloured ones are usually read closer to their colour family, pink toward the heart, yellow toward abundance.
Is it true blue sapphire can bring bad luck?
That belief comes from Vedic astrology, where neelam is considered too strong for some charts and is traditionally trialled for a few days before being worn for good. Outside that system nobody warns about it. If the idea unsettles you, a trial week costs nothing.
